How to develop a habit using the following principle
In our conversation today I will teach you how you can develop the habits that you need to fulfill your destiny. In a previous article, I covered the path that you need to take toward fulfilling your destiny. And I use the acronym P-A-T-H; the path to follow towards fulfilling your destiny and I broke it down into four parts.
The P-A-T-H Towards Destiny Fulfillment
There is the P for purpose and A for action, the T for time, and the H for habit. And what I have said in the past is that we need to know what our purpose is for us to be able to fulfill our assignment. And once we know what our purpose is, we need to know the actions that we need to take. Our action is the only physical proof that we believe in our destiny. Then we need to know how to manage our time because that's a great resource that has been given to us by our creator towards fulfilling our destiny.
Our action is the only physical proof that we believe in our destiny
And finally, we are to develop the necessary habit. Our habitat is where we live. Our habits are our traits and patterns that live with us. Let’s talk more about the habits, and I want to introduce you to a concept that I called the 1-2-3-4-7 Principle of Habit development.
1-2-3-4-7 Principle
What that simply means is that whenever you want to develop a habit, you don't need to think about how long it's going to take you, you just need to take the next right step. Psychologists and sociologists do tell us that it takes about 21 days minimum for us to develop a habit. And when we do something 21 times, then it forms a habit. Now if you think about trying to do something for 21 days, that could be rather daunting. And so that is why I have a 1-2-3-4-7 principle and this is where it works.

When you do something once, it becomes an incident. So, whenever you want to develop a habit, make sure you get started. It becomes an incident. The moment you do it twice, it becomes a co-incident.
The moment you do it three consecutive times, it becomes a pattern. When you do it four consecutive times, that's the beginning of consistency. When you do it five, six, and seven consecutive times, that is the beginning of a habit. So, if you want to do something for 21 days, don't think about 21 days. Don't think about 21 times; just think about the first time, the second time, the third time, the fourth time, and the second time. By the time you go through this circle three times, that is 21.
So, what is the habit you want to develop?
Maybe you want to start writing or you want to start doing keep feet, going to the gym, eating right, and measuring some key parameters about your health. Once you follow the 1-2-3-4-7 principle, that is the starting point.
Don't think about how complicated it is. Just take one step at a time. All you need to do is to take the first step and then you repeat that until it becomes second nature for you.
